Silver Kings is a Discovery Channel TV show that followed the world of saltwater fly fishing. The name “Silver King” derived from and used to describe the Silver Tarpon fish. This royal title inspired the logo design which manifested into a regal crown comprised of the fish food chain starting with a shrimp and eventually leading to the Silver Tarpon. While working at Blue Ion, I was also the lead creative for redesigning the Silver Kings website. The focus for this site was to help promote the show and be a destination for viewers to watch the entire series.
DISCOVERY & EXPLORATION
The rebranding of Silver Kings involved developing a branding system that would represent the culture vision of saltwater flyfishing. Various ideas for the mark involved different forms of badges and crest. While working with the client, we began exploring imagery and reference material based on the 12th-century knighthood. The similarity was then made between the culture of fly fishing and how it's skill level is greatly increased once brought to saltwater. The tarpon fish is considered one of the prized fish in the sport.

PROCESS OVERVIEW
Further explorations were made with floral embellishments found in Family Crests. These elements were crucial to the later concepts, that depicted multiple fish moving together to form a shield. The final logo resulted in a floral-inspired pattern made up of the Tarpon's food chain, arranged in the shape of a crown. Additional elements were incorporated within the shield to reference the Silver Kings tagline.
